Quote

from Perec’s book La Disparition (1969) (A Void), written entirely without the letter e. After the convoluted plot about an investigation of mysterious murders ends with Perec killing almost all characters, the novel ends with the words of the murderer:

“But an illusion was always lurking in such solutions, an allusion of wisdom, wisdom to which not any of us could truly lay claim, not our protagonists, not our author, and not I…and it was that lack of wisdom, that chronic inability of ours to grasp what was actually going on, that had us talking away, constructing our story, building up its idiotic plot…without at any instant attaining its cardinal point” (Perec 277).

Georges Perec

was a French novelist, filmmaker, documentalist, and essayist. He was a member of the Oulipo group. Perec and Oulipo are undoubtedly a huge inspiration for Danielewski, especially for his novel Only Revolutions, written entirely without using some of the most common English words (in, have, as, they, say, or...).

samadhi

a state of meditative consciousness. It is a meditative absorption or trance, attained by the practice of dhyāna.[1] In samādhi the mind becomes still. It is a state of being totally aware of the present moment; a one-pointedness of mind (Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samadhi)

You may be asking, "so, what's it like?" Daido Roshi said, "In absolute samadhi, in complete falling away of body and mind, there is no reflection and no recollection. In a sense, there is no 'experience' because there is a complete merging of subject and object, or a perfect recognition of already existing non-separation. There is no way of describing what is or was going on." (Link - http://buddhism.about.com/od/buddhistmeditation/a/Samadhi.htm)

In "positive samadhi," which is based on the experience of absolute samadhi, we are functioning in the world: walking, gardening, cooking, cleaning, with a mind that is completely present to the experience of life in this moment (Link - https://www.theosophical.org/publications/quest-magazine/42-publications/quest-magazine/1331-shojin-and-samadhi-the-journey-torwad-compassion)
